Washington State’s Ethan Happ (center) has become the latest in a growing list of stars to announce that he’s leaving the Huskies.
(John McDonnell/The Washington Post)The Washington State men’s basketball team is expected to announce on Tuesday that the team will not field a starting lineup of players for the 2017-18 season, with the school announcing on Twitter that senior guard Ethan Happ will be joining the team as a graduate transfer.
The Huskies have announced their intention to end their association with Happ in 2017, citing the school’s financial situation.
Happ was a consensus All-American at the college level and the 2017 NBA Draft, but has not played in the NCAA Tournament since the 2013-14 season.
The Washington Post reported earlier this month that he has struggled with injuries throughout his career.
The announcement of Happ’s departure comes after a season in which Washington State ranked in the bottom five in the Pac-12 Conference in points per game, field goals made and field goals attempted.
Washington State finished 18-35, finishing third in the conference in field goal percentage.
